Adventure, QTR, and the Ride to End Alzheimer's

My good friend Mike Hall is in the middle of a 30-day adventure—one that most of us only dream about. He’s riding his motorcycle across the United States… but not the way most people would. Instead of highways and rest stops, Mike is following a mostly off-road route that spans over 5,000 miles—from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, to Cape Blanco, Oregon.

It’s called the Trans-America Trail, and it’s made up of dirt roads, gravel paths, forest trails, and backcountry tracks. And he’s doing it solo.

Mike isn’t just a motorcycle enthusiast—he’s passionate about riding. He often talks about the risk vs. reward of the road, and for him, the reward is always worth it. Riders like Mike tend to share a few traits that go beyond the motorcycle:

  • Adventurous – They thrive on the unknown and chase the thrill of discovery.

  • Independent – Freedom isn’t a luxury, it’s the whole point.

  • Self-reliant – When something breaks, they fix it. When they’re lost, they figure it out.

  • Resilient – They handle the mud, the heat, the setbacks—and keep going.

  • Passionate – Riding isn’t a hobby. It’s a way of life.

But Mike’s ride isn’t just about adventure. He’s also riding for a cause—raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s in honor of his late mother, Sandy, who passed away from the disease. He’s turning this personal journey into something bigger than himself.

That’s QTRQuality Time Remaining. It’s a mindset. A reminder that our days are limited, and the best way to honor that is to make every moment count. To say yes to adventure. To find meaning and joy in the things we love. To ride, explore, connect—and remember.

So, what are you waiting for? If there’s something you’ve been meaning to do, do it. Chase that dream. Book the trip.

Ride the trail.

Let’s make some memories. Let’s live our QTR.
