Two Days of QTR with My Nephew Matt

A while ago my nephew, Matt Berry, called and asked if he could drive down and visit for a couple of days. He was preparing to start a new job and wanted to spend a little time on the coast to relax, reset, and enjoy himself before the next chapter began. The answer was of course yes. When someone you care about wants to spend time together, that is an easy yes.

Matt arrived and we had an absolute blast. He started his visit with a long walk, and later that afternoon we went wine tasting at Florez Wines (https://www.florezwines.com/) , where they create natural organic wines using native yeasts. After that we walked on the beach and did a polar plunge in the ocean at sunset. The water was cold and refreshing, the sky was glowing, and it felt like one of those simple moments that you know you will remember.

That evening we cooked dinner and had long conversations about life, careers, family, travel, and the things that matter. The next morning, he joined me at our Rotary Club meeting, which was his first Rotary meeting ever. From there I took him to have what I consider the best Breakfast Burrito in Santa Cruz. I am a self-proclaimed Breakfast Burrito connoisseur, and this one continues to hold the top spot in the Premier League of Breakfast Burritos. If you want a copy of my most recent Breakfast Burrito list, just let me know.

We had two days of QTR together. Two days of meaning and memories. Two days of fun, adventure and connection. It was a reminder that QTR is not only about travel or big adventures. It is also about saying yes when someone wants to spend time together. It is about creating small moments that become lasting memories. It is about making time for the things and the people who bring us joy.

Cheers to QTR, today and every day.
