Would you be satisfied with the last thing you said to them?

I’ve been reflecting a lot recently on the part of the Quality Time Remaining (QTR) paper where I share about my struggle with living every day as your last. Recently I have been talking with my wife, who has been living with metastatic breast cancer, that we wake up every day and we live our best day today with the hand that we have been dealt. But the truth that we live one day at a time doesn’t make it any easier. What should we do with that day?

I recently saw a quote that said, “Speak with people in a way that if they died the next day you would be satisfied with the last thing you said to them.” This certainly could make living today meaningful and memorable. Imagine if at the end of a lunch or a meeting with a friend or colleague you were to just quickly let that person know something you really appreciate or admire about them or your relationship with them.

Remember, travel and adventures are definitely QTR, but most of our days are regular days. And during regular days, we want to remind ourselves to make every day meaningful and memorable. How can you make today meaningful and memorable?

I wish you QTR today and every day!
